Re: Fwd: Fair trade fair

Agreed, go for the networking. From my experience, this event is more aimed at fairtrade companies that are fairly well established and catering for the 'luxury' end. the stall costs are high but not especially unusual for where it is held - central hall rent for 3 days wouold be about £30,000 - any less and Benny would have to get funding and he probably can't be bothered as this has been running for about 20 years and he knows he can fill it. unfortunately that means its self selecting but i don't think we're wanting the high-end one off purchasers anyway. event also has a heavy element of christmas fare about it.

On the up side, Benny is one of the original fairtrade pioneers and undoubtedly knows a lot of people. similarly, there will be plenty of stallholders there who could be useful source of info on marketing techniques and audiences.

hope that's useful

Further to the note earlier, this is where this conversation is now.

£250 for a stall + VAT and cost or two is £300-350

If we make a pound on a bag of 80 that's 10 boxes a day to break even.

I think paying for a stall would be risky, but its probably worth going and seeing what people are up to.
