Re: Fwd: Fair trade fair
I don't know if any decision has been taken on this yet but for comparison we sold around that amount of tea at the Camden Green Fair which had around 15,000 people and the stall cost £35. Could have sold a bit more but not much.
I am not clear exactly how many people they expect to get - 3,000 stated but in an earlier email 26,000 on the database "who come year after year."
But let's go with the best possible scenario first of 26,000 potential buyers. That's nearly twice as many potential buyers as were at the Camden Green Fair.
Assume we sell at the same rate we would potentially sell 20 boxes, that's 10 boxes over break even price.
Assume we get £1 a bag of 40 (which seems to be about the price from the past) that's £10 per box and with ten boxes sold a profit if £100. If we get average £1.50 then profit £150
So we risk £300-350 for a £100 or better profit - roughly!
If the number who turn up if actually 3000 then it would be 1/5 of the Camden GF potential customers - a definate non starter I would think given the stall costs is so high.It seems a bit out or line with Fair Trade if little people like us can't get in on the act and get a low cost start.
My opinion is that it would be a good idea if JC people could check out the event this year, network with people on the stalls and have a few leaflets in their pockets if they happen to make a good connection.
Where are we with this now?
Also remember I have the display materials for the stall and am leaving for Australia on Wed so if needed please get on touch ASAP.
